BARC supplies cardboard enclosures for transporting cats and leashes for adopted dogs. \r\n\r\nBecause BARC cares first and foremost about the safety and well being of our animals, people who want to adopt must complete an adoption application and agree to an interview with BARC respresentative. BARC encourages responsible pet ownership; we only adopt out animals to people who are qualified to meet the needs of bringing a new pet into their lives.\r\n\r\nBARC only allows adoption of companion animals. Companion animals are just that, companions...they are adopted as pets and for no other reason. BARC uses criteria based on the animal\u2019s behavior and health to determine whether an animal is fit to be a companion. This decision is solely in the discretion of BARC. BARC\u2019s decision in this matter is final in all cases.\r\n\r\nAnimals that arrive at BARC may not be immediately available for adoption. We set a specific timeframe that gives us sufficient time to assess the animal\u2019s health and behavior, as well as to allow owners a chance to claim their lost pets. Once that time frame has passed, the animal will become eligible for adoption. Animals that are too immature or not healthy enough for spay\/neuter surgery are not available for adoption but may be available to be fostered. Unfortunately, we have to get rid of him since we're going to be moving to california and cannot bring him with us. Hi! This is Dug! He is about 1.5 years old. He is named after the dog from the movie “UP”! Dug is the sweetest dog in the whole wide world and is extremely tolerant, he would be amazing with kids! He lets you pick him up, touch his ears, touch his paws, and he plays fairly gently and knows when to stop. He is also amazing on a leash, there’s always slack and he stops when you stop. Dug was recently adopted from the Montgomery County Animal Shelter about a month or so ago. Unfortunately, our dog we had before Dug likes to pick fights and they just don’t get along☹️. For the most part, Dug is very dog friendly and has never gone after a dog, but if one goes after him he does fight back. Dug is currently working on being hose trained and has done a very good job so far! He can be very stubborn about getting out of bed and needs to be dragged out sometimes. He’s very very smart and sweet boy and I think with proper training would be the most well behaved dog I’ve ever seen! Come see Dug!!!

She is very smart and learns quickly, food motivation certainly helps. She is crate and housetrained, leash training is in progress. She loves to play with balls and is getting a hang of the return-to-sender part for continuous play. She is great with other big dogs, loves to play and chase and tends to be vocal when doing so. Playing with little dogs needs a little help as she can be a little overwhelming for them. As she is still a pup, she comes with "puppy emotions" - she's a bit dramatic at times, still learning and mouthing and gets her feelings hurt when corrected and redirected. She also recovers really quickly. She also knows how to enjoy calm time and is an expert cuddler.She is good with teens - all of her puppy energy is barely contained when she gets excited and she gets the zoomies and will likely jump and run, so older kids that understand and can navigate her learning process are best suited for her.Lovey is looking for a home with another dog for her to play with, older kids are ok.
