He s an easy target because he was maybe the most in over head head in an era full of mid major coaches and players. And that is 100 Weber s fault. quote for being an under qualified assistant in the Weber era but all of the equally under qualified players during that era are immune because they worked hard and gave what they could for the program? Seems like that s every bit as true of Price. If anything I d bet he was working a lot harder than most of the players. He was probably spending 60 hours week working as an assistant which is not the greatest gig chasing his coaching dream during his 20 s and 30 s. The fact that he fell short and hadn t been in a career with any transferable skills so he was stuck trying to start over makes me sad rather than gleeful. I d guess he made decent money as an assistant but probably nothing like top guys make today. And he wasn t a nepo-baby hire like Lovie s kid. Weber was making millions driving the program into a ditch while being a profoundly unappealing person to boot. Price was just a guy in over his head doing his best in a position he really shouldn t have had just like Trent Frazier was. Unless I m forgetting some interviews where Price was a jerk or some other issues he had. quote quote I can t believe this article still exists on the Internet a href https 247sports.com college illinois article jay-price-qualified-to-be-head-coach-104651593 amp https 247sports.com college illinois ar...
